Overview

Hello! We are looking for full-time support for our family with cooking healthy and nutritious meals and snacks, daily cleaning & organizing, and occasional nannying for our 3-year-old daughter and / or 6-year-old son. We also have a puppy, so the person must be comfortable with pet care. You must have a valid driver's license and pass a criminal record check. My husband and I mostly work from home and our kids are mostly in care, so cooking and cleaning / organizing are key parts of this role.

• Location: SE Kelowna (near Gallagher’s canyon), live-out position
• Salary: Competitive, and commensurate with experience

• Schedule: Typical work week is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm; however, flexibility outside of this schedule is required as needed

Primary Responsibilities

Cooking

• Menu planning (and discussing with family), making grocery lists, grocery shopping, and preparing healthy and nutritious daily meals & snacks for the family
• Manage every aspect of the kitchen, including storage management and maintaining inventory of pantry items and groceries, and notify when items need replenishing
• Clean up after cooking and preparing meals & snacks, dishes, etc
• Load or unload the dishwasher
• Must take into account family members’ dietary restrictions
• May prepare different meals for different household members

Housekeeping

• Planning a regular cleaning schedule, including tasks that should be completed on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
• General cleaning and maintenance (e.g. vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sanitizing) of assigned areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, kitchens, and common spaces
• Tidying assigned areas spaces to keep them organized and clutter-free
• Making kids beds, changing bed linens and towels, and replenishing amenities as needed
• Handle all kids laundry tasks, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, and putting away clothes
• Cleaning and organizing outdoor living spaces (deck and patio)
• Manage garbage and recycling routines
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify when items need replenishing
• Ensuring the residence is always neat and welcoming

Secondary / occasional responsibilities

Childcare / nanny responsibilities

• Assisting with childcare as needed, including supervising and engaging in activities (children are 3 and 6 years old)
• Follow a structured routine while remaining adaptable to the family’s needs
• Engage in age-appropriate educational activities to support the child’s cognitive and physical development
• Maintain open communication with the parents and provide regular updates
• Assist with occasional evening babysitting as needed

Pet care

• Caring for a dog - Feeding, walking, playing fetch (puppy is currently 5 months old)

Qualifications and requirements

• Proven experience as a versatile Family Assistant, nanny or in a similar role
• Strong cooking skills, with the ability to prepare healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for the family
• Strong organization and prioritization skills, with a high attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to both work collaboratively and follow direction, and work independently with minimal direction, as the situation requires
• Reliable, trustworthy, and discreet, with a calm and patient demeanor
• Proactive, organized, and adaptable to the family’s lifestyle
• Performing other related duties as assigned
• Occasional babysitting on evening or weekend
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain if you don’t have it)
• Food Safe / Food handler certification is preferred
• Fluent in English
• Must be currently legal to work in Canada
