Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable, caring, and organized nanny to provide supervision and support for our two school-aged children in a private household located in Ottawa’s west end (Nepean). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the children’s safety and well-being, assisting with daily routines, preparing nutritious meals and snacks, coordinating age-appropriate recreational activities, and providing transportation assistance when required. In addition to child care responsibilities, the caregiver will assist with household duties related to maintaining an organized and efficient home environment, including meal preparation, laundry, and general housekeeping. The position requires a flexible, dependable individual who can effectively manage the children’s schedules while supporting the family’s day-to-day household needs.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and care for two school-aged children in the employer’s residence.
  • Ensure the children’s safety, well-being, and development at all times.
  • Establish and maintain daily routines and schedules appropriate to the children’s ages and needs.
  • Provide guidance, support, and age-appropriate supervision before and after school.
  • Foster positive behaviour and encourage independence, responsibility, and healthy habits.
  • Accompany children to recreational, educational, and community activities when required.
  • Organize and participate in age-appropriate activities, including outdoor play, sports, arts and crafts, and educational enrichment activities.
  • Monitor children’s whereabouts and maintain communication with parents regarding schedules, activities, and any concerns.
  • Drive or accompany children to and from school, extracurricular activities, appointments, and community events as required.
  • Coordinate transportation schedules and ensure timely attendance at activities and appointments.
  • Assist with planning and managing the children’s daily and weekly schedules.
  • Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the children.
  • Assist with meal preparation for the family as required.
  • Accommodate dietary preferences, restrictions, or special nutritional requirements as directed by the employer.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment following meal preparation.
  • Perform laundry duties for the household, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, and organizing clothing and linens.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of common living areas, children’s bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry areas.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, including vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, making beds, and tidying household spaces.
  • Assist with grocery shopping and household errands as required.
  • Maintain household supplies and notify the employer when replenishment is needed.
Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary school (high school diploma) or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of full-time paid experience caring for children in a private household, child care setting, educational setting, or related environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and engage school-aged children in a safe, responsible, and nurturing manner.
  • Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children and family members.
  • Experience performing household duties such as laundry, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe and orderly home environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and schedules.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Reliable, dependable, patient, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of the household.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record are considered assets, as transportation of children may be required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
