Job summary

Cascades invites applications for a Sustainable Development Advisor role based in Saint-Hubert. You will help advance recycling programs, support sustainability initiatives, and collaborate with clients, operations, and sales to improve environmental performance.

Key responsibilities include planning waste audits, reporting, and ensuring contract compliance while traveling about 10% to Ottawa. Fluency in English and French is required; a relevant degree is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or related field is an asset.
  • Experience in recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
  • Knowledge of LEED, BOMA Best, and similar sustainability programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Copilot) and Canva.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; manage multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel ~10% to Ottawa, Ontario; fluent in English & French.

Your Role

As Sustainable Development Advisor, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential. Your scope includes:

  • Coordinating and maintaining recycling programs for national and local clients to improve quality and increase waste diversion.
  • Conducting waste and recycling assessments to identify opportunities for greater material recovery and support business development activities.
  • Supporting clients through site assessments, training sessions, quarterly reporting, and ongoing sustainability services.
  • Planning and conducting waste audits and supporting the development and implementation of waste reduction action plans.
  • Managing non-conformance issues and ensuring timely resolution in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Preparing diversion reports and supporting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborating with Sales, Account Management, and Operations teams while monitoring recycling legislation, emerging sustainability trends, and contract compliance through material audits.
What you bring

You're a natural fit for Sustainable Development Advisor if you have:

  • A college or university degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience in the recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA Best, and similar programs.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and Copilot, as well as visual design tools such as Canva.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Access to a vehicle, willingness to travel approximately 10% to Ottawa, Ontario, and fluency in both English and French.
