Job summary

Hamilton Health Sciences seeks a musculoskeletal radiologist for a full-time clinical and academic role at McMaster University. The successful candidate will advance clinical care, contribute to teaching and supervise radiology residents and fellowship trainees.

Responsibilities include participation in trauma rounds, body radiology coverage, and involvement in research and multidisciplinary programs. Licensure in Ontario and RCPSC certification are required.

Job description

Applicants must possess strong diagnostic skills which will enhance our tertiary imaging team and multi- disciplinary programs and have proven established experience in trauma and sports imaging. Interventional MSK skills are also expected. The successful candidate will be scheduled for clinical work, subspecialty and teaching rounds, including contributions of expertise and regular participation in departmental and multidisciplinary trauma rounds. Radiology skills must be inclusive of all musculoskeletal modalities, with experience in MSK ultrasound and ultrasound-guided interventions which is essential, besides standard fluoroscopy/CT guided MSK interventions. Other MSK interventional skills such as radiofrequency / cryoablations, vertebroplasty, cementoplasty and advanced pain management procedures will be helpful though not mandatory, as the department is planning to expand these interventions currently performed by our interventional radiologists.

The Hamilton General Hospital Radiology Association consists of 25-30 subspecialty trained radiologists overseeing tertiary care practice and a diverse community independent health facility (IHF) practice. The association offers flexible percentage FTE status for interested applicants. Our practice model offers hybrid reporting options with mixture of on-site and remote reporting opportunities to allow for flexible scheduling.

Clinical assignments include some general and body radiology, as well as participation in the department body radiologist on-call schedule. Community practice setting assignments are inclusive of musculoskeletal ultrasound and BMD.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a full-time faculty position at McMaster University, with academic rank commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will promote clinical scholarship through teaching, mentorship and support for research and will demonstrate excellence in clinical care, exhibit collegial, civil relations in all interactions. Participation in teaching and supervision for our Diagnostic Radiology residency program and musculoskeletal fellowship, as well as undergraduate programs is required.

Qualifications and Certifications:

Fellowship training in musculoskeletal imaging is expected. Applicants must possess strong diagnostic skills which will enhance our tertiary imaging team and multi- disciplinary programs and have proven established experience in trauma and sports imaging. Interventional MSK skills are also expected.

Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario, certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and meet the credentialing requirements of Hamilton Health Sciences and radiology group affiliated community practices.
