About the Position: The Maintenance Worker II is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and reliability of municipal buildings, grounds, equipment, and assets owned or operated by the Municipality of Jasper. This role ensures facilities and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and efficient while delivering value to residents, staff, and visitors. The position contributes to preventative and prescriptive asset management, supports the development of safe work practices, and provides professional service in all assigned projects.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily inspections of municipal facilities and grounds.
  • Perform preventative and prescriptive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, controls, and mechanical systems.
  • Inspect gas‑fired appliances and adjust hydronic heating and cooling systems.
  • Assist with project management, including establishing scope, evaluating proposals and quality control.
  • Order parts, coordinate contractors, and monitor budgets for approved repairs or upgrades.
  • Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with municipal standards.
  • Develop, review, and follow Safe Work Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain consistent, professional communication with staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and share knowledge.
  • Represent the Municipality in a professional manner and act as an ambassador for Council and staff.
Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Grade 12 Education or GED.
  • ABSA Power Engineer 5th Class (or higher) or equivalent.
  • Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • First Aid with CPR & AED Certification.

    Preferred

    • Experience in a skilled trade (Plumber, Millwright, Electrician, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic, Steamfitter/Pipefitter).
    • ARFP Pool and/or Arena Operator Certification (Level 1 or 2).
    • Incident Command System training (100, 200, or 300).
    • SMRP Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician or Practitioner.
    • Equivalencies may be considered on the basis of one year experience for one year of education.
    • Candidates with lower qualifications are encouraged to apply and may be considered at a lower classification and pay.
