Job summary

A local government agency based in Alberta is seeking a Municipal Worker 2 for seasonal road maintenance. Job description
Municipal Worker 2 – Roads – Seasonal (2 Positions Available)

Term of Employment: Full-Time, Seasonal (April 13, 2026 – October 30, 2026)

Rate of Pay: Band 3: $27.96 - $30.71 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Current Location: Operations Centre

Responsibilities
  • Assist Equipment Operators as a laborer in the maintenance and repair of pavement, street cleaning, concrete repair, open storm drainage systems, traffic control devices and line painting.
  • Operate vehicles 2 ton and under and limited equipment such as walk‑behind chop saw, concrete grinder, hot box, message and arrow boards.
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Load, unload and transport equipment and construction materials.
  • Carry out minor equipment maintenance including cleaning.
  • Report all issues or concerns with equipment and/or safety to supervisor.
  • Keep accurate documentation such as time sheets, equipment inspection forms and daily work records using computers or mobile devices.
  • Work at heights and operate the bucket truck for traffic light repairs, sign repairs and hanging Christmas decorations.
  • Ensure equipment, material and tools are maintained, clean, operational and stored as per City of Lloydminster policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all roads traffic control devices including traffic lights, signs, road closures, sweeper and snow removal signs and barricades.
  • Perform heavy lifting and manual labour.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Adhere to the City of Lloydminster’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • May require operation of equipment related to an Equipment Operator position.
Schedule

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours due to weather constraints. The position requires on‑call and weekend shifts.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency with three years proven experience in road repair or building, sign maintenance, concrete or brick laying, construction work while operating small maintenance equipment such as walk‑behind concrete saw, handheld concrete saw, string trimmer, chain saws, or hand and power tools in an efficient and responsible manner in accordance with recognized procedures.
  • Must be capable of operating small maintenance equipment such as walk‑behind chop saw, concrete grinder, line painter, spray patch, hot box, message and arrow boards, bobcat and trackless sidewalk equipment with attachments, and hand and power tools in an efficient and responsible manner in accordance with recognized procedures.
  • Previous concrete experience is considered an asset.
  • Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract is required. An air endorsement would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and ability to use mobile smart devices.
  • Must be able to work at heights using an aerial device safely and efficiently.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete training on operation and maintenance of equipment used by the City of Lloydminster’s Roadway Services.
