Job description

Gannett Fleming’s Toronto, Canada office is seeking a Project Engineer – Municipal with a strong civil background, focusing on water and wastewater projects, to support planning, design, and construction oversight. The role involves working with local clients such as the MTO, Metrolinx, and municipal agencies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing concept and detailed designs following project, client, and stakeholder standards to deliver high-quality technical services. You will engage with a dynamic utilities team and clients in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead utility relocations or installations involving water and sewers
  • Produce preliminary and detailed designs for water and/or wastewater projects
  • Develop feasibility studies, technical memos, and other documentation
  • Prepare drainage plans, capacity assessments, and design calculations
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Develop and validate cost estimates for municipal projects
  • Manage permits and prepare tender documents for construction projects
Education & Experience
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • Professional Engineer license in Ontario (P.Eng.)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in civil site design, watermains, sewers, stormwater management, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and permitting
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment and approvals process
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Experience with Civil3D, MicroStation, AutoCAD; ArcGIS and Bentley software are a plus
