Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Municipal/Civil Engineer to support municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater projects from our Calgary office. The role involves working in a team environment, communicating with project members and clients, and showing initiative in project execution.

Responsibilities include design support, construction inspections, contract administration, documentation, cost estimating, and coordination with regulators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 4+ years of related civil engineering experience.
  • Experience with municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater infrastructure.
  • 8+ years preferred in related roles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Engineer with design of civil systems for municipal water and/or wastewater/drainage.
  • Perform construction inspections and contract administration.
  • Prepare design documentation, reports, cost estimates and contract documents.
  • Assist with proposal writing, project scoping and regulatory coordination.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers and ensure work stays on budget and schedule.

Municipal/Civil Engineer

Location: Calgary Office, AB

AECOM is seeking a Municipal/Civil Engineer to support the delivery of infrastructure projects in the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sector. The candidate will work within a team environment, communicating effectively with project members and customers, and demonstrate initiative, motivation, and enthusiasm for project execution.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Senior Engineer with design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater/drainage conveyance facilities.
  • Perform construction inspections.
  • Perform construction contract administration.
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Assist in the preparation of project specifications and contract documents.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, contract preparation, negotiation, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and simple tests.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identify discrepancies in results.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 4+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, and contract administration.
  • Experience with municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, and contract administration.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Experience in the condition assessment of municipal infrastructure.
  • Experience in proposal writing and job scoping.
Additional Information
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $85,000 to $130,000.
