Job summary

Ontario Public Service in London, Ontario, is hiring for a permanent, full-time advisory/management role within Municipal Services Office. You will provide advisory and program management services on municipal organization, and fiscal and administrative management, with guidance to clients and provincial interests.

Travel is required to reach remote locations; you will coordinate service delivery and deliver education and training across jurisdictions, using strong communication and analytic

Qualifications

  • Valid G class Driver's licence required to travel to areas not served by public transit.
  • Experience with local government issues and municipal governance.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation related to municipal activities such as the Municipal Act and Municipal Elections Act.

Mandatory requirements
  • Valid G class Driver's licence needed to travel to areas not served by public transit

  • experience dealing with local government issues, including municipal finance, structure and administration related to provincial interests
  • proven knowledge of/experience in community development, financial management and analysis
  • the ability to apply and interpret legislation related to municipal activities such as the Municipal Act and Municipal Elections Act

  • written communication skills to prepare briefing material/correspondence
  • oral communication skills to respond to inquiries and provide advice and/or best practices
  • the ability to build consensus, negotiate and resolve conflict
  • presentation skills to deliver training sessions

  • analytical skills to undertake research and evaluate municipal governance programs and operational issues
  • the ability to use sound judgement to provide advice to clients and municipalities

  • demonstrated organizational skills and initiative to independently prioritize and complete assignments to deadline
  • the ability to manage competing demands and multi-task as well as coordinate workshops and training sessions
Other Skills
  • demonstrated ability to work successfully in team environments and fast-paced, cross-functional working groups
  • proficiency using a computer and a variety of software packages such as word processing, spreadsheet and presentation
