Duties
  • Documenting patient interactions as observed in accordance with ROHCG health care records practices and policies.
  • Assist in the daily work carried out in the home (patient counts, meal supervision, refreshments, and other such activities as directed by interdisciplinary team).
  • Monitoring specified inventory and reordering as appropriate for the home.
  • Environmental safety including equipment maintenance inspection for the home.
  • Transport/porter patients, supplies, equipment, mail, as necessary.
  • Performs functions related to the tidiness and cleanliness of patient care areas.
  • Oversees and assists with patient cleaning and bedrooms as necessary.
  • Delivers requisitions, equipment, specimens and other porter activities as required.
  • Communicates with interdisciplinary team to order/reorder supplies.
  • Participates in evaluations for program planning and reporting.
  • Participates in specific assignments to meet the needs of a group of patients or one individual patient as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervision of the movement of patient(s) of the home.
  • As directed, carry out patient activities such as supervision and oversight of activities to promote social leisure and vocational skills.
  • Assessing and reporting interaction amongst patients under direction of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Share responsibility with the team for total patient care and upkeep of safe patient environment.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient.
  • Provides support to patients in areas of home tasks, meal supervision, monitoring and report all patient movement, monitoring of patient supplies and equipment, supervising patients in the community as required.
  • Maintain infection control principles and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Participate as directed in discharge planning a implementation of plans with interdisciplinary team and community agencies.
  • Assists residents with necessary applications for the discharge process under the direction of the team.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team and function well in a team oriented climate.
  • Communicate with community agencies and families as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Work with the team to maintain the home and patient care areas neat and safe from any hazards.
  • Adhere to the ROHCG Policy and Procedures.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the Royal.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti‑Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year post‑secondary diploma or certification in health related field.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team and function well in a team oriented climate.
  • Perform clinical work functions that support the provision of patient and family focused care.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check – vulnerable sector.
  • Possess a valid G driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (candidate must agree to complete prior to start date if this qualification is not met).
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingualism an asset.

Salary Range: 28.87 to 30.81 per hour
