Job summary

Toronto Hydro is seeking an experienced Motion Designer to bring brand stories to life through motion graphics, video, and multimedia content. You will partner with marketing and internal stakeholders to deliver compelling visuals that meet accessibility standards and drive engagement across channels.

The role requires 7+ years of hands-on motion design experience, with proficiency in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and related tools.

• Portfolio demonstrating excellence in motion graphics, animation, video editing, and digital content.

Expected Salary Range: $80487 - $120731 Annually

Target Variable Performance Pay: 8%

The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.

The Motion Designer brings Toronto Hydro's stories, brand, and messages to life through compelling motion graphics, animation, video, and digital content. Combining creativity with technical expertise, this role transforms complex ideas into engaging visual experiences that support marketing, communications, and business objectives across a variety of channels and platforms. Partnering closely with creative teams and internal stakeholders, the Motion Designer creates impactful content that strengthens brand consistency, enhances audience engagement, and delivers accessible and engaging user experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, create and produce high-quality motion graphics, animation, video, and multimedia content that supports marketing campaigns, corporate communications, social media, digital channels and storytelling initiatives


• Transform concepts, messaging, and creative briefs into visually compelling content, including storyboards, motion concepts, animated assets and branded creative solutions from concept through final delivery


• Edit video footage and integrate animation, sound, and visual effects to enhance storytelling and audience engagement


• Manage the motion design production process from planning through delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and meets established creative, technical, brand, and accessibility standards


• Champion and apply brand standards across all motion design assets, maintaining consistency in visual identity, animation styles, templates, and overall creative quality


• Collaborate with Marketing, Communications & Brand teams and internal stakeholders to translate business objectives into effective visual storytelling, while leveraging emerging technologies, design trends, and AI-assisted creative tools to drive innovation and continuous improvement

REQUIREMENTS:

• Post-secondary education in Motion Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Digital Media, Animation, Visual Communications, Film Production or a related field


• Seven (7) or more years of experience in motion graphics, animation, or multimedia working within an in-house creative team, broadcast environment, agency, or corporate marketing and communications environments


• Extensive experience creating motion graphics, animated content, and visual packages for video, multimedia, and digital communications


• Strong knowledge of motion design, animation principles, visual storytelling, and video production techniques


• Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, with strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, and Media Encoder


• Demonstrated experience in animation, video editing, audio integration, visual effects, and post-production workflows


• Demonstrated ability to create compelling visual concepts and apply design principles, including typography, composition, colour theory, layout, and visual hierarchy


• Experience developing and maintaining visual identities, creative assets and branded content across digital channel


• Knowledge of brand standards, accessibility requirements, and digital content best practices


• Portfolio demonstrating excellence in motion graphics, animation, video editing, and digital creative work


• Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and partner with stakeholders across the organization


• Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines and competing priorities


• Demonstrated curiosity and passion for exploring and applying emerging technologies, design trends, AI-assisted creative tools, and innovative storytelling techniques

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
