Purpose Unlimited’s DRIVEN team is shaping AI-enhanced credit risk processes for Canadian small businesses. You will design governance for ML models, build risk strategies, and define how humans and AI collaborate to drive portfolio decisions.

You’ll own model governance, validation, and explainability workflows, working in a flexible hybrid setup with equity, benefits, and development opportunities at Purpose. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in credit risk, quantitative risk, or risk analytics within financial services (banking, fintech, or lending).
• Demonstrated experience building or validating ML models in a credit or risk context – not just using them.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; hands-on experience in modern data warehousing environments.
• Proven ability to translate complex quantitative analysis into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000

Purpose of the Role

Credit risk at Purpose is being rebuilt from the ground up for the AI era – and this role is part of the team doing the building. You’re not joining a finished function. You’re helping shape how it works.

We are in the process of designing and deploying an AI-augmented credit risk function: the tooling is being selected, the workflows are being architected, and the human accountability layer is being defined. You will help determine which tasks get handed to AI and which stay human, help build the models and workflows that drive portfolio decisions, and help design the governance that makes those decisions accurate and defensible. You will be measured by what gets built: the quality of the models, the soundn ess of the governance framework, and the effectiveness of the risk strategies that come out of the function you help design.

• Exposure to collections strategy optimisation, scorecard development, or offer assignment modelling
• Emerging fluency with AI governance standards, prompt engineering, or agentic AI tooling in analytical workflowsFamiliarity with the Canadian regulatory environment for credit risk (OSFI, FCAC)
