Job summary

Dexterra is seeking a Mobile Technician to support and maintain technology-based infrastructure. In this role, you will handle network systems, TV installations, and security systems, providing critical onsite IT support.

The ideal candidate has higher technology-based education, relevant certifications, and at least 5 years of technician experience. This position requires travel and is safety-sensitive, with pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Services, the mobile technician role plays a vital part in keeping technology based infrastructure running and secure.

This is a field based role on a rotation based schedule, actioning items that require a hands on presence locally, and performing preventative maintenance as required to ensure systems remain optimized. Travel is required for this position. The role is safety sensitive; pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing is required.

Service, repair and install network and Internet systems
  • Local management of network switches, access points, security appliances and aggregation equipment.
  • Replace or maintain systems as required.
  • Ensure high level of standards, cable clean up, performance optimization.
  • Maintain exterior systems such as satellites, antenna, or P2P radios.
Service, repair and install TV systems
  • Service and install Pico and Holland style head‑end systems.
  • Service and install analog and digital cable systems in the remote lodge environments.
  • Install physical television sets and monitors including brackets and cable pulls.
Service, repair and install surveillance and security systems
  • Repair and replace cameras and NVR equipment as required.
  • Install camera and security systems, including alarms, sensors, and support hardware.
  • Complete backups and firmware updates locally.
  • Service and repair access control systems, and AI based platforms, guest door lock systems, etc.
Provide local IT and technical support for all technology‑based systems
  • Support remote support teams with repair and changes on site.
  • Work with users to improve comfort and education.
  • Repair and support computers, phones, printers and scanners, and any other technology based system.
Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Higher technology‑based education at a college, university, or polytechnic level.
  • 1 or more certifications in Cisco, Ubiquity, Fortinet or equivalent.
  • First‑aid, confined space, working at heights, CSTS, AWP and WHIMIS.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technician role.
