Job summary

K + S in Bethune, SK (Moose Jaw/Regina) is seeking a Mobile Equipment Operator to join the Dry Process production team. You will report to the Production Supervisor on shift and operate all mobile and rail equipment safely on site.

This is a rotating 12‑hour shift including evenings, weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate has Grade 12, 3+ years’ experience with heavy equipment, and exposure to locomotives or trackmobile is an asset. Pre‑employment checks may apply.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent education.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy industrial environment and operation of related heavy equipment.
• Experience operating Heavy Mobile Equipment (Wheel Loaders, Dozers & Excavators) or equivalent equipment.
• Experience operating a Locomotive and Trackmobile.
• Knowledge of operating parameters and required mechanical condition of equipment.
• Ability to communicate using cell phone, two-way radio, telephone and log sheet.
• Ability to work alone for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 kg.
• Demonstrates flexibility in uncertain situations and a safety‑minded approach.
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft applications is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate all site mobile, rail, rental equipment and fleet vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Assess equipment condition and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Maintain safe stockpile management and protect others in the work zone.
• Participate in pre-job planning and conduct pre-operational inspections.
• Determine appropriate equipment for specific tasks (load capacity and conditions).
• Perform routine checks, minor maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with Dry Process Panel/Field Operators and Shift Supervisors for start‑up/shut‑down.
• Assist Dry Process field operator duties as needed (collecting samples, clearing equipment).
• Follow SOPs, Lock Out Tag Out procedures and Work Instructions.
• Daily housekeeping during down times (spill cleanup, snow removal).
• Track railcar movements to support steady reclaim and loading operations.

Job description

Your Responsibilities

The Mobile Equipment Operator is part of the Dry Process production team reporting to the Production Supervisor on shift and is responsible for the safe operation of all Mobile Equipment and Rail Equipment on site. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Operate all site mobile, rail, rental equipment, and fleet vehicles safely and efficiently within the Product Storage Warehouses and Loadout Facility.
• Make judgments on the working condition of all equipment and provide recommendations on required repairs or replacement.
• Maintain safe working conditions by making correct judgements on product stockpile management, ensuring safety of other team members near the work zone, including the responsibility to stop unsafe work conditions.
• Participate in pre-job planning and conduct pre-operational inspections (visual walk-about) for operational safety of equipment.
• Determine appropriate equipment to be used for specific application including load capacity and conditions.
• Perform routine checks on equipment, minor maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Communicate with Dry Process Panel/Field Operators and Shift Supervisors to safely start up and shutdown process equipment.
• Will be required at times to assist Dry Process field operator duties. (collecting samples, clearing process equipment, etc)
• Review and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, Lock Out Tag Out Procedures, and Work Instructions for the applicable equipment and area.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties during down times. (ie. Cleaning product spills, Snow removal, etc)
• Responsible for tracking railcar movements within the rail storage tracks and loops. Ensure that railcars are available to maintain steady Reclaim and Loading operations.

• Knowledge of normal operating parameters (engine temperature, fluid levels, etc) and required mechanical condition (hoses, engine, tires, etc) of equipment.
• Ability to communicate using cell phone, two-way radio, telephone and log sheet.
• Ability to work alone for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 kg. (fork extensions, chains, pads, etc.)
• Demonstrates flexibility in uncertain situations.

Your Profile

This is a rotating 12 hour shift position including evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will be required to climb stairs, work from heights and may be required to work in hot humid conditions as well as outdoors during cold weather conditions. The position will require manual effort i.e.: turning valves and periodic lifting of materials and climbing in and out of equipment (etc.)
