Job summary

A leading mobile crane company in Fort McMurray is seeking experienced Mobile Crane Operators. The successful candidates will operate and maintain cranes and must have Red Seal certification and a Class 1 Driver's License. Ideal applicants will interpret load charts and uphold safety regulations. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. Relocation to Fort McMurray is required as accommodation won't be provided.

Qualifications

  • Must be a member in good standing with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955.
  • Experience with crane and heavy machinery operation is required.
  • First Aid Training / H2S alive / CSO certifications are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, set up, and rig the crane properly.
  • Execute lifts from routine to complex.
  • Maintain accurate hours of service and safety reports.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance.

Job description

LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada's largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes.

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced Mobile Crane Operators who are interested in joining our growing team in Fort McMurray in Alberta.

The successful candidate will report to the Supervisor, Crane Operations and will satisfy the following criteria:

Responsibilities:
  • Assembling, setting up and rigging the crane properly with booms, extensions, and hook blocks
  • Execute lifts from routine to highly complex and extra-heavy lifts
  • Interpret load charts including understanding the correct meaning of all notes and warnings and being able to calculate or determine the crane's actual net capacity for every possible configuration of the machine
  • Ensuring that the apprentice is in a safe place during operation
  • Shutting down and securing the machine properly when it is unattended
  • Complete and maintain accurate hours of service records, safety reports, and other work done on the crane while in the field
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance as required
  • Uphold HSE regulations and be aware of any site conditions that could affect the crane operation
