Job summary

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking a Mining Engineer to join our team in Toronto to grow our mining advisory practice. You will work on all aspects of the mine life cycle, including planning, design, management, closure, and reprocessing, collaborating with our multi-disciplinary professionals.

You will contribute to underground and open-pit projects, apply industry software, and deliver economic assessments, reports, and client presentations.

Qualifications

• Post‑secondary degree in mining, civil, or geotechnical engineering.
• Minimum of five years’ experience at operating mines.
• Experience with mine planning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain industry leading standards for mining engineering work.
• Working with limited supervision, develop mine designs based on the information gathered or provided, depending upon the needs of the client and the scope of the project assigned.
• Underground optimization (using Deswik or similar specialist software) and mine design, life-of-mine scheduling and Mineral Reserve estimation using current mine planning and scheduling software packages
• Estimation of project capital and operating costs and financial modeling and analysis
• Preliminary Economic Assessments, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies
• Assessment, due diligence and technical auditing/review of mines and projects
• Project management
• Report writing and client presentations
• Support business development across the team and wider business
