Job description

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Corporate Mine Engineer to help a rapidly growing precious metals company develop and expand a new asset while building core processes at head office in Vancouver.

This role exists to free up senior leadership for high-value activities by owning the planning, analysis, and coordination work that turns strategy into safe, efficient mine production.

As a highly motivated mining professional, you will be the connective tissue between site operations, contractors, and corporate, ensuring plans are realistic, schedules are met, and decisions are backed by solid engineering and cost data.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain the mining plan, including schedules, milestones, and risk tracking.
  • Partner with the site-based project manager on contractor selection, scope, and deliverables.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders on site to understand the operation and drive action on priority issues.
  • Develop first-principles operating and capital cost models to support planning and budgeting.
  • Own trade-off studies that improve underground mine productivity, ventilation, development, and backfill strategies.
  • Set standards for mine plans, production reporting, and reconciliation across the operation.
  • Review and challenge weekly and monthly plans to ensure they are achievable and aligned with long-range targets.
  • Support corporate development by analyzing targets, building cases, and contributing to due diligence.
  • Coordinate inputs from geology, processing, maintenance, and HSE into integrated plans.
  • Prepare clear updates for leadership on progress, risks, and required decisions.
  • Mentor site engineers and help establish simple, repeatable processes.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline; eligible for P.Eng. or equivalent is an asset.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with underground mining, including exposure to planning and operations.
  • Able to travel to mine site when required for stakeholder meetings and critical action items.
  • Strong skills in mine planning and scheduling tools and advanced Excel or similar for cost modeling.
  • Proven ability to run trade-off studies and turn data into practical recommendations.
  • Solid project coordination skills with contractors and vendors.
  • Clear communicator who can work in a small, hands‑on team and take ownership.
Remuneration

Competitive salary with benefits. $150k base salary target.
