Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Discipline Manager to oversee our Mining Group within our Canadian mining delivery team. Thefocusofthepositionwillbetoengageourhighlyskilledteamin the technical execution of various mining projects with diverse range of complexities.

In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians with the goal of helping to develop, maintain, and enhance Stantec’s market profile, position, and brand imaging as it relates to the underground mining discipline in mine development. You will participate in the technical execution of projects to ensure delivery, resources efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Your Key Responsibilities
Supervise and Mentor Developing Professionals
  • Coordinateteam’sworkandprovidetechnicalguidanceondesignapproachandchallenges.
  • Assign qualified individuals and teams toprojects
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels to suitbacklog
  • Develop,maintainandimplementatrainingprogramtosupporttheprofessionaldevelopmentofteammembers
  • Recognize when technical problems develop and initiate guidance for correctiveactions.
  • Mentor team to guide their career developmentobjectives.
  • Conductworkinasafemannerandpromotehealthandsafetywithintheofficeandoutsideoftheofficewhilevisiting clients and jobsites.
Project Delivery
  • Provide technical leadership guidance to the team, and perform a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the team’s production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality, and within budget.
Support Business Development Activities
  • Lead and assist with development of technical approaches, deliverables and methodology for proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop positive relationships with clients, earn their confidence and become their trusted adviser.
  • Identify the skill and expertise gaps to meet the current and future market opportunities and support suitable recruitment or development actions to address them.
