Job description

Fine Gold Resources is a precious metals mining company operating in the Yukon. We operate on a seasonal basis from March to October and are looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate to join our dynamic team at our alluvial gold operations in the Yukon.

As we are preparing for the new season, we are seeking a mine technician to provide technical and operational support.

We are looking for energetic, "self-starter" individuals who are mining engineering, surveying or geology undergraduates or a recent graduate to get some wonderful experience in a working mine over a period to be agreed. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to be employed for a longer time period between March and October. The suitable candidate will live in a remote camp for 6 weeks at a time via a fly-in and fly-out schedule.

We provide accommodations and meals at our on-site camp and offer a highly competitive compensation package.

This is a 24/7 operation with two shifts each day.

Duties
  • Assist the site surveyor and supervisors with field control such as cut layouts and spotting for mining equipment on overburden/ore/basement contacts.
  • Support operators and supervisors with maps and field guidance on mining method and sequences.
  • Assist to compile daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Support operational initiatives as required.
  • Relieve at gold sluice plant as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in operational mining engineering, survey or geological work would be considered an asset, but not essential.
  • Physically fit to do some manual labour and lifting.
