Qualifications

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Mine Operations, the Training Supervisor is responsible for field training, coaching, mentoring, instructing, and evaluating employees on all large scale open pit production equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Promote a strong safety culture by training operators on hazard recognition, safe work procedures, and emergency response.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to operators, fostering skill development, productivity increases and overall operational confidence.
  • Conduct field assessments to evaluate employees on their safety awareness and proficiency of equipment operations.
  • Provide direction and supervision for unionized Mine Operations peer trainers to encourage peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve training effectiveness and operational performance. Including gathering feedback from operators and supervisors to refine training material and delivery methods.
  • Collaborate with Operations Supervisors and training department to ensure training meets compliance and the performance needs of the crews.
  • Participate in the development and amendments of standard practices/procedures to continually reflect industry best practices.
  • Be familiar with Success Factors software for scheduling, compliance and record keeping.

Qualifications
  • Completion of Gr.12 or equivalent
  • Minimum five years of open pit mining
  • Experience in operating and training the following; Autonomous Haulage Systems, Haulage Truck, Electric rope Shovels, Production Loader, Electric Rotary Drill, D10 track Dozer, Grader, Backhoe and Excavator
  • Knowledge of the B.C. Mines code
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task and excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask and keep accurate records of all training
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
Assets
  • IAuditor and Success Factors experience
  • Knowledge and training on Autonomous Haulage System
  • Knowledge of fleet management systems (Command, Fleet, or MineStar) would be considered an asset
  • B.C. Shift Boss and blasting ticket, or B.C. Mine Supervisor certification or equivalent
  • First aid and transportation tickets
  • Strong organizational and computer skills

Salary Range: $105000.0 - $129000.0

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
