Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a qualified Mine Manager for the Sechelt Mine on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia. Reporting to the Area Manager for BC Aggregates, you will lead the mine’s management team and direct mining, production, safety, and compliance.

The role requires 10+ years in mining or materials production, strong leadership in a unionized environment, and a proven track record of elevating productivity while controlling costs.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mining or building materials production.
  • Substantial leadership experience with proven track record of achieving results in a complex production environment.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Sechelt mine’s management team and employees in all aspects of mining, production, repair and maintenance, quality control and administration.
  • Implement and enhance the mine’s safety program to accomplish Heidelberg’s "zero harm" standard.
  • Develop, implement and execute specific strategies, plans and objectives to maximize the utility of resources, continuously improve the mine’s productivity and minimize costs.
  • Develop operating budgets and identify capital spending projects, prepare their authorization and ensure successful implementation of the recommended projects.
  • Oversee compliance with environmental and mining regulations, policies and procedures and continue the mine’s award-winning reclamation program.

The Sechelt mine is located on the Sunshine Coast and is one of the largest sand and gravel operations in North America and one of the most advanced aggregates operations in the Heidelberg Materials Group. Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Mine Manager. Reporting to the Area Manager for British Columbia Aggregates, this position manages, directs and coordinates the overall mining and production operations at our Sechelt Mine.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Work Environment: Role operates primarily a professional office environment, but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels
