Job summary

Western Forest Products seeks a certified Millwright for our Ladysmith Sawmill Operation in Ladysmith, BC. The role involves maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, rigging, and ensuring safe operations with hydraulic knowledge.

Shifts are Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a safety-sensitive pre-employment drug test. Wage rate is $47.69/hour under the collective agreement, with a $0.60/hour premium on non-day shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must be Red Seal Certified or hold BC/AB Journeyperson Millwright certification.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a skilled maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace mechanical components and machinery.
  • Rigging and slinging tasks.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Perform hot work and follow lockout protocols.

Job description

Are you a certified trades person looking to join a “best in class” maintenance team? Western Forest Products is hiring for a Millwright to join our Ladysmith Sawmill Operation located in Ladysmith , BC.

What We Offer:
  • Wage rate of $47.69/hour as per the collective agreement
  • Hourly premiums of $0.60/hour on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift
  • A safe work environment

Shifts: Saturday and Sunday, 6:00am to 4:30pm.

This position is considered safety sensitive, all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repairing or replacing mechanical components & machinery;
  • Rigging and slinging;
  • Troubleshooting mechanical machinery;
  • Hot work and lock out protocols;
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems;
  • Performing other preventative maintenance processes that pertain to optimum mechanical performance of our facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates must be Red Seal Certified or hold valid BC or Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certification;
  • Preference will be given to those with sawmill experience;
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic;
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills;
  • Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement; and,
  • Accountable and dependable.
