Qualifications

  • 5+ years of post‑apprenticeship experience in assembly, repair and overhaul of pumps and mechanical rotating equipment.
  • Experience working in a pump or valve shop or in the mining industry is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical components according to layout plans.
  • Install and commission rotating assemblies in the field, perform bearing assemblies, grout and alignment.
  • Examine equipment upon arrival for irregularities and determine repair courses.
  • Participate in the PM program for continuous improvement of machines.
  • Demonstrate commitment to zero harm behaviors and support safety culture.

Millwright – Weir Minerals

Sudbury, Canada – M-F – 37.5 hrs

Purpose of Role: The Millwright assembles, repairs and overhauls pumps, cyclones, valves, HPGR crushers and other mining and rotating processing equipment. The role supports two environments: the Weir service shop and field operations, spending approximately 25‑30% of the time on site at mines supporting clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Installation – install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical components according to layout plans, using hand and power tools.
  • Field Service Work – install and commission rotating assemblies in the field, perform bearing assemblies, grout and alignment, and resolve mechanical issues in shop and field environments with pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing.
  • Inspect Equipment – examine equipment upon arrival for irregularities, communicate with engineering, management and trade colleagues to determine repair courses.
  • Preventative Maintenance – participate in the PM program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines.
  • Safety First – demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm behaviors and support development of a world‑class safety culture.
