Job summary

Alamos Gold Inc. – Young-Davidson in Ontario is seeking a Mill Operator to join the mill team and support ore processing operations.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mill Operations, you will perform duties in the mill, operate equipment, and uphold safety and environmental standards on a 12-hour, 7/7 rotating schedule. The position requires 1–2 years of mill experience, basic mill modules, and the ability to work at height and in variable conditions.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in an Ore Processing Mill.
• Basic Mill common core modules are required.
• Able to operate heavy mobile equipment.
• Able to perform heavy lifting and work at heights.

• Maintain clean and orderly work area and equipment.

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Supervisor, Mill Operations the Mill Operator will be responsible for performing various duties within the Mill and supporting Mill crews.

Primary Responsibilities

• Works and ensure all workers work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and all other applicable government standards and regulations;
• Adheres to and enforces all safety and environmental considerations;
• Adheres to and enforces the internal responsibility system and Five Point Safety System;
• Ensures that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used, and removed from operations until made safe;
• Assist or participate in daily safety meeting;
• Follow-up on house keeping;
• Maintains working area and equipment in a clean and orderly conditions; and
• All other activities entrusted by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications And Experience

• 1-2 years experience in an Ore Processing Mill;
• Accreditation of basic Mill common core modules;
• Able to operate heavy mobile equipment;
• Able to perform heavy lifting;
• Able to work at height;
• Able to work in different workplace condition such as heat, cold, dusty, noise, wet, chemical;
• Self-motivated;
• Capable of making decision with minimum supervision;
• Basic understanding of mill settings and related equipment such as ball mill, pumps, conveyors, crushers;
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical functions; and
• Able to wear respiratory protection as required

Schedule

12-hour shifts following a 7/7 rotation, days/nights

Pay or shift range:

$34.20 CAD to $60.17 CAD

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
