MagrisTalc is a leading Talc producer operating mines and processing plants in the United States and Canada.

We are looking to add a Penhorwood Mill Supervisor to our Operations team. This role is a full time and permanent position requiring an individual to work on a 5-5-4 schedule, a 12-hour day shift rotation and cross shift to our current Mill Supervisor. The work schedule may be altered for the initial training period and also in the event that the needs of the Operations changes. This role does require daily travel to our Penhorwood site, which is approximately 70 km west of Timmins towards Foleyet. A travel allowance is also provided to assist in offsetting travel costs.

Penhorwood is a fast paced and high demand work environment that requires someone who supervises and coordinates activities of plant production workers; utilizes knowledge of industrial operations for the safe, clean, efficient, and profitable production of talc products; assists in process optimization studies and other plant-related improvement projects.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Fully supports the location health, safety, quality and environmental (HSEQ) programs by overseeing their implementation, maintenance, and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of plant production workers to ensure that work performed meets operational objectives and requirements.
  • Confers with maintenance and quality control to ensure production activities are coordinated with those groups to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources and equipment.
  • Coordinates production schedules with customer service to properly service customer needs.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of plant-related projects improving costs, capacity, Quality Control, and safety.
  • Assists with administration of human resources policies at the location. Conducts investigations to resolve or effect settlement of problems, as directed, and consults with senior manager and regional/corporate human resources for advice and counsel.
  • Conducts or directs training of workers to improve work performance and motivates work force to accomplish both location and company objectives.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and makes presentations to managers, customers and/or employees.
  • Consults with cost control and purchasing personnel to assure cost-effective purchase of goods and services, and requisitions supplies as required.
  • Applies knowledge of production principles and practices to assist with investigation of improvement ideas and resolution of problem areas.
  • Participates in plant staff meetings, team meetings (as applicable), and on-call duties.
  • Maintains courteous, professional relationships with Company line and staff functions, outside contractors, customers, and government agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned, subject to change due to nature of Operational requirements.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements
  • Knowledge of industrial and mill process operations.
  • One to Three Years of related experience as a minimum.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Administrative skills required to manage paperwork, schedule work to both meet customer needs and optimize the use of personnel and equipment and ensure that employees have the resources needed to execute their activities safely and efficiently.
  • Self-motivation necessary to ensure that the work progresses without supervision. Being a self-starter is essential.
  • Planning skills needed to ensure that timely completion of programs and objectives satisfies legal and corporate objectives.
