Job summary

GovTech Talent Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS migration architect to lead enterprise application transitions from on-premises to the cloud. The role focuses on planning migration waves, designing target-state architectures, and ensuring security and governance align with government standards.

You will validate dependencies, guide modernization efforts, and help implement containerization with Kubernetes and EKS, while building automated pipelines and IaC for reliable delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience migrating enterprise apps to AWS with on-prem to cloud transitions.
• Delivery of migration roadmaps, waves, and target-state designs.
• Ability to validate dependencies across apps, infra, and databases.
• Experience with security, IAM, and governance for government standards.
• Hands-on with CI/CD, IaC, and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Strong documentation, risk management, and workshops facilitation.

Responsibilities

Job description

Project Overview

The engagement focuses on migrating multiple mission-critical enterprise applications from on-premises infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The portfolio includes Merative Cúram, Oracle Siebel, Oracle e-Business Suite, IBM Business Automation Workflow, Informatica, Cognos, WebSphere, WebLogic, Oracle databases, and related shared services. The phased approach is migrate first, modernize second, involving application and database migration to AWS, Oracle Database upgrades, infrastructure modernization, security and identity integration, migration planning and execution, and future-state containerization and deployment to Amazon EKS.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and validate migration approaches for the mission-critical applications, and related systems.
• Develop detailed AWS migration strategies, roadmaps, and migration waves.
• Produce target-state cloud architecture designs and transition plans.
• Validate application, infrastructure, integration, and database dependencies.
• Design and review AWS architecture including VPCs, EC2s, EBS, S3, Route 53, Load Balancers, Transit Gateway, Network segmentation, Security Groups, IAM, CloudWatch, Backup and Disaster Recovery.
• Ensure alignment with government security, compliance, and operational standards.
• Provide guidance and implementation support for migration of Merative Cúram applications, Oracle Siebel CRM, Oracle e-Business Suite, IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW), WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, Cognos Analytics, Informatica, Shared services and integration platforms.
• Support future modernization initiatives including Java upgrades to Java 21, Migration from traditional WebSphere to WebSphere Liberty, Kubernetes architecture and implementation, Amazon EKS deployment strategy, CI/CD automation and DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Review cloud security architecture.
• Design IAM and access management strategies.
• Integrate enterprise identity and SSO services.
• Support secure connectivity between AWS and on-premises environments.
• Assess compliance, audit, and operational controls.
• Produce architecture decisions and technical documentation.
• Identify and manage migration risks and mitigation plans.
• Facilitate architecture reviews and technical workshops.
• Support procurement, project planning, and executive reporting.

Qualifications & Requirements

REQUIRED

• Must be able to work 5 days onsite per week in Toronto
• Experience in middleware software installation, configuration, tuning, system optimization and administration, as well as experience with application development
• Experience with middleware and gateways
• Hands‑on experience with AWS or other cloud provider platforms migrating, deploying and managing cloud‑native applications and services
• Experience with DevOps tools such as CodePipeline, CDK/CloudFormation, Kiro, CloudWatch, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or others
• Experience with web and applications tier servers
• Experience on application monitoring and support
• Experience building and maintaining automated pipelines for build, test, and deployment
• Experience building and deploying containers and workload orchestration platform
• Experience with development framework/technologies
• Experience with change management and release management as processes supporting the implementation of large applications
• Experience with incident and problem management processes
• Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications
• Experience producing design artefacts, code, configurations, scripts, and test cases
• Ability to analyze the results from functional, security, load-and-stress testing and resolve reported issues
• Ability to analyze and solve data integrity, security, configuration and recovery issues
• Assess and test Change Requests (CRQ) with technical content and updating as necessary
• Ability to participate in release promotions/implementations
• A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines

• Knowledge of GO-PKI Security or similar public/private key Infrastructure
• Experience conducting system and application monitoring and performance and data integrity in accordance with ITIL standards
