Qualifications

Position Summary

This Meter Lab Specialist will provide support to the overall administrative and technical operations of the meter lab. This position is directly responsible for meeting all regulatory and internal quality requirements related to handling, verifying, installing, and servicing of metering equipment. Additionally, this position will support the development of new meter lab services and congruent expansion of lab capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain meter lab equipment to conduct final testing, verification and reverification of meters and sub‑metering systems as per Measurement Canada administrated laws and regulations.
  • Support all meter lab activities, including maintenance and calibration of test consoles and attachments, quality record keeping, adherence to the company Quality Management System and any applicable standards and specifications prescribed by Measurement Canada.
  • Continually keep abreast of Electricity and Gas Inspection Act Laws and Regulations.
  • Continuously seek out, introduce and lead improvements through process changes and ideas, by maintaining a continuing awareness of new trends and developments.
  • Perform any other tasks in support of meter lab operations as necessary.
  • Uphold Lean and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Foster a safety‑oriented culture.
Qualifications
  • Technologist Diploma from a recognized College or Technical Institution, or Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized University.
  • Mearie Meter Technician Certification considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a meter shop environment, electrical and/or metering field.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems including electricity distribution in high rise / multi‑residential settings.
  • Understanding of communication systems and protocols.
  • Familiarity with Measurement Canada’s policies and procedures is a strong asset.
  • Good technical and 'hands‑on' aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to balance a high volume of work and multiple priorities independently and without supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with positive attitude and focus on results.

$50,000 - $60,000 a year

The range shown reflects base salary. We also offer bonus and additional compensation as part of our total rewards program.
