Overview

Your Opportunity: Reporting directly to the Manager or designate, this Children\'s Mental Health Therapist will work collaboratively with Addiction and Mental Health staff, psychiatry, public health and school personnel to provide support to child and adolescent clients to address emotional, behavioural and mental health concerns. The service is delivered in multiple settings. This role values collaboration and evidence-informed practices, with a high degree of independence and the ability to navigate complexities across systems. The successful candidate will have a proven positive track record of working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and/or families. Description: As the Mental Health Therapist, you will use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) for persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
  • Additional Required Qualifications: Registration with the applicable licensing body (CRNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW) is required. Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Excellent assessment skills. Formal clinical training in child and adolescent mental health. Formal training in child and adolescent mental health therapeutic interventions such as CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy is highly beneficial. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in assessment and treatment of children/adolescents with mental health concerns/diagnoses. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with diverse community stakeholders and service providers.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Child and Family Services, Health Partnership Initiatives, and Multicultural groups.
