Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, (Island Health) patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Under the general supervision of a senior position such as a Registered Nurse or Regular Psychiatric Nurse and supporting a multidisciplinary team, the Mental Health and Addictions Rehab Support Worker assists in the provision of activation and socialization services for mental health patients in the acute care setting, provides personal care assistance, and support services to the patient/client who is experiencing mental health, addiction, behavioral and developmental problems.

Responsibilities

Assists in the provision of activation and socialization services for mental health patients in the acute care setting, provides personal care assistance, and support services to patients/clients who are experiencing mental health, addiction, behavioral and developmental problems, under the general supervision of a physician or nurse and supporting a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Education, Training And Experience

Grade 10 and completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program, plus six (6) months recent, related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Registered with the BC Care Aide registry.
