Job summary

MLabs is seeking a Senior/Member of Technical Staff in Toronto to define how AI agents navigate the web. You will build open-source frameworks, demonstrate high-impact demos, and improve the developer experience to make the platform indispensable for AI engineers.

Responsibilities include framework development, performance benchmarking, frontend-backend-model integration, and technical advocacy. Excellent communication and autonomy are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience writing production-grade code.
• Experience building open-source tools or libraries for AI/agent integration is a plus.
• Strong ability to communicate complex topics through writing.

• Design evaluation frameworks to measure reliability and efficiency of browser-based AI tasks.

Location: Toronto (Office) On-site | Full-time Compensation: $140K - $240K

The Role: Member of Technical Staff (Applied AI)

The Senior Applied AI Engineer will play a pivotal role in defining how AI agents navigate the web. This individual will focus on building open-source frameworks and high-impact demos, while simultaneously refining the developer experience to ensure the platform remains indispensable for AI engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Framework Development: Build and maintain open-source tools and libraries that simplify the integration of AI agents with browser environments.
• Performance Benchmarking: Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure the reliability and efficiency of browser-based AI tasks.
• Product Iteration: Move fluidly between frontend, backend, and model integration to ship full-stack features end-to-end.
• Technical Advocacy: Produce high-quality technical documentation and posts that unpack complex engineering challenges and learnings.
• Customer Collaboration: Act as a technical partner for early adopters to ensure successful implementation of the platform's infrastructure.
• Engineering Excellence: 4+ years of experience writing high-quality, production-grade code.
• AI-Native Workflow: A heavy user of AI agents within a day-to-day coding environment.
• Full-Stack Capability: Proven experience shipping product features from design through to model integration.
• Developer Focus: A strong interest in developer tooling and clear opinions on developer ergonomics and API design.
• Communication: Exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Product Sense: Strong intuition for product-market fit and the ability to prioritize features that drive developer value.
• Autonomy: The ability to thrive in a self-directed, highly autonomous work environment.
