Job summary

ABIE is seeking a dynamic leader to advance Alberta's international education ecosystem as a Member Engagement & Projects lead. You will strengthen relationships with post-secondary institutions, government partners, and international stakeholders while driving grants, funded projects, and strategic initiatives.

You will manage programs, coordinate events, analyze data to improve value, and ensure accountable use of budgets and resources across time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in higher education, international education or policy.
• Master's degree in higher education, international education or policy is a benefit.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution of ABIE's strategic and operational plans (KPIs).
• Serve as trusted advisor to the Executive Director on member, stakeholder, and sector priorities.
• Lead member engagement initiatives including meetings, campus visits, networking, and advisory groups.
• Develop, deliver, and evaluate member programs, services, events, and international resources.
• Build and maintain relationships with Alberta post-secondary institutions, government partners, and international stakeholders.
• Identify and promote partnerships, funding, and international engagement opportunities.
• Represent ABIE at regional, national, and international meetings and events.
• Coordinate and oversee delegations, study tours, conferences, and signature events.
• Develop business cases, grant proposals, reports, and communications.
• Monitor program performance and provide recommendations to enhance member value.
• Manage project budgets, expenditures, and resources with accountability.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies for project delivery.
• Collaborate on governance, policy interpretation, and marketing/communications.
• Research and cultivate partnerships to support innovation and internationalization.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Travel domestically and internationally across time zones.

Job classification: P2083 - Business Development Manager

Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000. Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Hours per week: 37.5

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Member Engagement & Projects role is responsible for delivering member-focused programs, funded projects, and strategic initiatives that advance ABIE's mandate and priorities. The role serves as a key liaison for member post-secondary institutions and external stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service delivery, strong relationship management, and successful execution of grants, scholarships, and revenue-generating initiatives.

This position plays a key role in strengthening member engagement, expanding partnerships, and enhancing ABIE's products and services. Working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the incumbent leverages data-driven insights, project management expertise, and stakeholder engagement strategies to support organizational growth and the advancement of international education in Alberta. Success in the role requires business acumen, sound judgment, diplomacy, cultural awareness, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across local and global networks. (ABIE as a small team is looking for an individual with a high-level of flexibility, commitment, and energy to advance our collective priorities.)

How You'll Contribute

• Build and maintain strong relationships with Alberta post-secondary institutions, government partners, and international stakeholders.
• Identify and promote partnership, funding, and international engagement opportunities that benefit members and advance Alberta's international education objectives.
• Represent ABIE at regional, national, and international meetings, conferences, trade events, and partner engagements.
• Coordinate and oversee inbound and outbound delegations, study tours, conferences, and signature events.
• Develop business cases, grant proposals, reports, and communications that support organizational growth and sustainability.
• Monitor program performance, analyze data, and provide recommendations to enhance member value, service offerings, and strategic priorities.
• Manage project budgets, expenditures, and resources while ensuring operational effectiveness and accountability.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project and program delivery.
• Collaborate on governance, policy interpretation, process improvement, marketing, and communications initiatives.
• Research and cultivate local and international partnerships that support innovation, diversification, and internationalization efforts.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture.
• Travel domestically and internationally and work across multiple time zones as required to support member and stakeholder engagement.
