Medical Secretary - Paediatric Orthopaedics
The Portland Hospital

Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

We’re looking for a Medical Secretary to join our dedicated team at The Portland Hospital. In this role, you’ll support two consultants working alongside the Practice Manager. As a Medical Secretary you’ll be responsible for ensuring the continued provision of the highest quality of secretarial and administrative support. Duties will include providing full secretarial support to consultants, being responsible for the appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this. You will also undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Practice Manager.

Duties include being responsible for the registration of patients, appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this. You will also undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Medical Secretary Supervisor.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide full secretarial support to the practice (including audio‑typing of clinical/non‑clinical material, reports etc) including those of a sensitive nature, whilst maintaining confidentiality.
  • Arrange investigations and consultations using hospital data systems.
  • Manage other correspondence and telephone contacts appropriately.
  • Maintain and file accurate patient records, including appropriate patient case note filing, and preparation of relevant clinic notes prior to Outpatient Clinics which take place on a daily basis.
What You’ll Bring
  • Previous Medical Secretarial experience is essential.
  • Significant understanding of Medical terminology.
