Are YOU our next Medical Laboratory Technologist?

We’re looking for a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Histology team in Ottawa, Ontario. You will be responsible for delivering the highest level of clinical and scientific quality to everyone we serve with a variety of testing using the latest technology. Your contributions will make a difference – the results and reports you deliver will be provided to physicians and greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life.

Status: Contract Full-Time
Shift timings: Day Shift; 9 am - 5 pm
Discipline: Histology
Work Style: Onsite
Location: 750 Peter Morand, Ottawa

How YOU will make a difference

• Deliver high-quality laboratory services in a timely manner.
• Perform all aspects of Histology, including grossing specimens, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining.
• Ensure sample identification is correct and specimen requirements meet established procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accuracy of documentation.
• Ensure quality control standards and perform routine maintenance on lab equipment.

What YOU bring to the role

• You thrive independently, applying sound decision making principles and ability to self-manage in fast-paced environment.
• You bring a high level of interpersonal skills and you are a natural fit within a collaborative working environment.
• Carry a CMLTO Registration as a practicing Medical Laboratory Technologist in good standing.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook at an intermediate level.
• Solid ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
• Nice to have: working experience in the Histology field.

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment.
• Medical laboratory environment.
• Required walking with repetitive motions.
• May sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use.
• Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required.
• Exposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances.
