The Brockville General Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Laboratory team in Kingston, Ontario. Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the MLA collects, receives, accessiones and prepares samples for testing, and reports results.
The role may involve training of new staff and ensuring specimen quality and safety. Candidates should have post-secondary lab education or Grade 12 with OSMT certification, CPR Level 1, and 6–12 months of lab experience, including

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is responsible for collecting, receiving, accessioning and preparing all samples for diagnostic testing. In addition, the MLA is responsible for reporting results of clinical samples. The MLA may assist with the training of newly hired staff, students and residents in the reception, handling and processing of patient specimens. The MLA may also be required to identify and resolve unsuitable specimens for testing.
The MLA participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy client-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
