Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority invites applications for a Clinical Medical Laboratory Assistant position based at Shared Health in St.-Pierre-Jolys. The successful candidate will work in person, with occasional travel to Steinbach and Ste Anne to support operational needs, and be employed at 1.0 FTE with 7.75 hours daily.

Required qualifications include Grade 12 or equivalent, and preferred completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program and CSMLS certification.

Please note the base location will be St. Pierre-Jolys. The successful incumbent will also be required to travel to and work in Steinbach and Ste Anne as needed based on operational requirement.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Experience

Previous related experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards, is required.
• Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

• Microsoft Office programs preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Sterile techniques and routine practices preferred.
• 50-55 wpm keyboarding skills an asset.
• Apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills required in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Work under pressure.
• Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
• Fluent language skills (written and oral) in both French and English may be required.
• Ability to perform duties as described.
