About the Opportunity
  • Perform cleaning and sterilizing duties to meet the needs of departmental customers.
  • Follow policies and procedures of the service.
  • Rotate throughout the decontamination area, processing area and distribution area.
  • Make up and distribute case carts and other sterile items to internal and external partners/clients within Nova Scotia Health.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the manager as needed.
  • Work evening, nights and weekend shifts.
About You
  • High school graduation or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical device reprocessing education program required.
  • Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician preferred.
  • Medical device reprocessing experience preferred.
  • Experience with instrumentation, medical knowledge and terminology, infection control and sterile processing practices, case cart make up, and knowledge of pick lists.
  • Knowledge of basic infection control and personal safety measures is required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift trays and other articles of approximately 25 lbs in weight, and move a rolling weight in excess of 50 lbs required.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize workload required.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently as required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and staff required.
  • Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to MDRD, patients and staff is required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
  • Applicants may be considered for a Medical Device Reprocessing in Training position if enrolled in an approved program and willing to complete the program within 12 months.

  • No guaranteed hours
  • 24 hour on call rotations
Compensation and Benefits

$23.46 - $27.92 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Perm / long assignments only)
