Job summary

A healthcare facility in Northeastern Ontario is seeking a motivated individual for a permanent position involving patient care, medical equipment support, and maintaining a safe environment. Applicants should have a College/CEGEP education and 1-2 years of experience, with valid First Aid and CPR certification required.

  • Assist with cleaning, maintaining, and repairing medical equipment.
  • Take patients' vital signs.
  • Transport patients as needed.

Education and Experience
  • Education : College / CEGEP
  • Experience : 1 year to less than 2 years
Work setting
  • Willing to relocate
  • Hospital / medical facility or clinic
Tasks
  • Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, setting up and assembling of medical equipment
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of medical equipment
  • Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
  • Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse
  • Weigh, lift, turn and position patients
  • Deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments
  • Make beds and maintain patients' rooms
  • Maintain inventory of supplies
  • Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher
  • Collect specimensAdminister first aid in emergency situations
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
Support for newcomers and refugees
  • Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and / or refugees (for example : housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.)
  • Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and / or refugees (for example : facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.)
  • Recruits newcomers and / or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example : Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.)
  • Supports newcomers and / or refugees with foreign credential recognition
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and / or refugees with experienced employees
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and / or refugees
Support for Indigenous people
  • Offers mentorship, coaching and / or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations
  • Provides cultural competency training and / or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
