Job summary

TC Energy is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the Canada Gas Operations team, primarily supporting the Mt. Bracey Compressor Station.

The role involves operating and maintaining natural gas compression equipment, with safety leadership and cross-functional collaboration. You will troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain turbines, compressors, and auxiliary systems, while coordinating contractors and documenting work in SAP.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman millwright, heavy-duty mechanic, or machinist accreditation.
  • 5 years of proven experience troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating mechanical elements of transmission facilities.
  • Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading plans.
  • Competence in the use of measuring equipment for maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting large-bore reciprocating engines or turbines.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, gas compressors, and standby generators.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs and industrial controls.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Computerized maintenance management system and SAP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and inspections on natural gas generators, aero-derivative/industrial gas turbines and compressors.
  • Perform bore scope inspections on APUs, pumps, air compressors, and other equipment used in natural gas compression.
  • Participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls, and preventative maintenance in the Region.
  • Complete job quality assurance documents (JQA) and safety analyses (JSA) and other documentation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems using manuals and documents.
  • Supervise and coordinate third party contractors.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our Canada Gas Operations team, primarily supporting the Mt. Bracey Compressor Station. Reporting to the Area Manager, the Mechanical Technician willoperateand maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.


This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, whopossessesexcellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills.

Whatyou’lldo
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and inspections onnatural gas generators,aero derivative/industrial gasturbinesand centrifugal and reciprocating compressors
  • Perform bore scope inspections on auxiliary power units (APU’s), pumps, air compressors, and other associated equipment used in natural gas compression
  • Participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls, and preventative maintenance in the Region
  • Complete job quality assurance documents (JQA’s) and work authorization/job safety analysis (JSA’s) along with other electronic documentation
  • Troubleshoot equipment problemsutilizingtechnical reference manuals and documents
  • Supervise and coordinate third party contractors
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
  • Demonstrate safety leadership
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low to medium complexity projects with effective work management practices such as time management, work sequencing, and contractor oversight
  • Collaborate and support our business partners asrequired
  • Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
Minimum Qualifications
  • Journeyman millwright, heavy-duty mechanic, or machinist accreditation(2 years of vocational/technical training from a recognized institutionmay be considered)
  • 5 years of proven experiencetroubleshooting, testing,maintaining, installing, repairing, andoperatingmechanical elements of the transmission facilities, such as compressors (turbine or reciprocating) and auxiliary engines, cooling equipment, valves, pumps, fittings, scrubbers, filters, electric motors, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading plans
  • Competence in the use of measuring equipment for the maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Experiencemaintainingand troubleshooting large-bore reciprocating engines or turbines
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, reciprocating and centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators
  • Basic knowledge of PLC’s and industrial controls
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Computerized maintenance management system and SAP experience
This position requires candidates to:
  • Have andmaintaina valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments,meetings or training will be required.
  • This position involves overnight stays away from home base
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposesas well as carry a cell phone and work a rotating on-call schedule
  • Be subject to working conditions which includeisolated locations,adverse weather and temperatures, heavy lifting (50 pounds), and cramped conditions
