Role

The Maintenance Team at Metropolis at Metrotown is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician. This position is primarily responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance program for all mechanical systems, building management systems and life safety equipment. A 4th Class Power Engineer\'s certificate is required and there is opportunity to gain other training and certification.

Schedule and Compensation

The Technician will participate in a schedule that includes day and evening shifts between (7am-9:30pm) including an on-call rotation. This role is unionized with a 35 hour work week. In addition to the base salary, there is an annual bonus, overtime rate for hours above 35 hours per week and a premium paid for on-call.

Responsibilities
  • Daily inspections of the building mechanical and electrical systems and all required maintenance and repairs. This includes lighting/electrical systems, chilled/heating water systems, rooftop equipment, compressors and boilers, as well as HVAC control systems and fire alarm/sprinkler systems;
  • Monitor and assist contractors in the efficient performance of their contracted duties;
  • Record mechanical readings at regular intervals;
  • Maintain preventative maintenance program for all life safety equipment and performing repairs;
  • Maintain good public relations with tenants;
Qualifications
  • Successful applicants must possess a valid BC or Inter-Provincial 4th Class Power Engineer’s Certificate.
  • Additional certification, including a Refrigeration or Electrical TQ would be considered an asset;
  • 3-5 years of practical experience with a strong knowledge of HVAC control systems;
  • Ability to work with hand tools and at heights;
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines to resolve building issues in a timely manner;
  • Resourceful team player with excellent communication skills and ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously;
  • Valid BC Driver’s License required.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required.
Compensation

Estimated compensation for this position: 82,400.00 – 82,400.00 CAD per year.

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
