On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their Vancouver office. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in building mechanical systems design and project delivery across commercial, institutional, and healthcare sectors specializing in HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection. The successful candidate will manage multi‑disciplinary project teams, liaise directly with clients, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the mechanical design and delivery of commercial, institutional, and healthcare building projects.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client objectives and company quality standards.
- Oversee preparation of mechanical system designs including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems.
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical designers and engineers.
- Conduct regular client meetings, maintain strong client relationships, and support business development activities.
- Review and approve technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, CSA standards, and healthcare design guidelines (e.g., CSA Z317).
- Support proposal development, fee estimates, and project scope preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia, or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design and project management, with proven experience in commercial, institutional, and healthcare projects.
- Strong understanding of local codes, standards, and healthcare facility requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and related engineering tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
