Hatch Ltd. in Saskatoon, SK is seeking a Mechanical/Piping Designer Technologist (new graduate or soon-to-graduate) to join the Project Delivery Group, Mechanical team. You will support global projects from the Saskatoon office, applying design principles to 3D models and 2D drawings and collaborating with senior staff.

The role offers hands-on experience with leading design tools, field verification, and potential site work. Travel to remote sites and other Hatch offices may be required.

Qualifications

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2027, or recently graduated, with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar program.
  • Excel academically while involved in extracurricular and/or volunteer activities.
  • Previous co-op and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical or Piping design are assets.
  • Academic or work experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley MicroStation, OpenPlant or Design Review CAD software is an asset.
  • Understanding or experience with layout development of industrial facilities is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment drawings and general arrangements.
  • Collaborate with senior discipline members and Hatch groups to share results.
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical equipment.
  • Learn various mechanical equipment, design tools, piping design, and industrial components.
  • Participate in safety training and inductions for office and site activities.
  • Perform field verification and provide site support during construction.
  • Travel and work at other Hatch offices or project sites as opportunities arise.

Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic Mechanical / Piping Designer Technologistnew graduate with interest in Mechanical design to join the Project Delivery Group, Mechanical team. Reporting to the Mechanical/Piping Discipline Lead Engineer or Discipline Lead Designer you will support projects globally working from theSaskatoon, SKoffice.

The Mechanical groupis comprised of a group of professional engineers, designers and technologists led by a management team that has pioneered renewable power technology globally. As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work independently to apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, general arrangement drawings of facilities and processes.
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups.
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical equipment.
  • Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes.
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities.
  • Perform field verification and provide field support during construction.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise.

You bring to the role:
