Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join our Montréal or Mont-Saint-Hilaire offices. You’ll design systems and equipment in 3D, select suitable technology, and prepare layout drawings, gathering site information for mining, hydropower and heavy industry projects.

Qualifications

• College diploma in mechanical engineering technology.
• Up to five years of experience.
• Experience with 3D design.
• Available to travel occasionally between the Mont-Saint-Hilaire and/or Montréal offices.
• Available for short assignments at client sites.
• Advanced French to facilitate collaboration with Québec offices/clients.
• Advanced English to facilitate collaboration with other offices/clients; English may be used occasionally.
• Asset: experience in heavy industry (mining, petrochemicals, energy).
• Asset: knowledge of SolidWorks, Revit, SmartPlant 3D, CADWorx, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
• Asset: knowledge of piping, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanized welding and structural engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design various systems and equipment in 3D.
• Work with point clouds (3D scanning).
• Select equipment for mining, industrial and hydropower applications.
• Create layout drawings for mechanical equipment and systems.
• Gather technical information on site.
• Perform detailed calculations.
• Assist more experienced personnel with technical tasks.
• Prepare plans and specifications based on guidelines.
• Foster a collaborative and engaging workplace culture while delivering high-quality work.
