Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support the construction of a major gold processing facility in Newfoundland, with a rotation on site. You will coordinate engineering, construction, and contractor activities to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery on a multidisciplinary mining project.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) and at least 7 years of field engineering experience in industrial construction, preferably in mining or

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • 7+ years of field engineering on industrial construction projects.
  • Experience in mining or mineral processing projects.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian construction practices, codes and standards.
  • Experience in EPCM project environments is an asset.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making in fast-paced field environments.
  • Willingness to work rotational site schedules in remote locations with safety focus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering, construction, and contractor activities for safe, successful delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction by interpreting drawings and design docs.
  • Monitor field execution to ensure work aligns with IFC drawings and project requirements.
  • Support installation of mechanical, electrical, and civil components across the facility.
  • Resolve RFIs and field change requests to maintain momentum and minimize rework.
  • Partner with QA/QC for inspections, turnover docs and closeout activities.
  • Track project progress, quantities, and productivity metrics for reporting.
  • Champion HSEQ excellence on site and promote safety and quality.

Help bring a major gold processing facility to life in Newfoundland. As a Field Engineer, you'll play a critical role in connecting engineering, construction, and field execution while ensuring quality, safety, and technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on a significant mining development while working alongside multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic site environment. This is a rotational on site opportunity.

Your Impact
  • Coordinate engineering, construction, and contractor activities to support safe and successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction by interpreting drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Monitor field execution to ensure work aligns with approved IFC drawings, project requirements, and quality standards.
  • Support the installation of mechanical, electrical, and civil components across the gold processing facility.
  • Resolve RFIs, field change requests, and technical challenges to maintain project momentum and minimize rework.
  • Partner with QA/QC teams to support inspections, test plans, turnover documentation, and project closeout activities.
  • Track project progress, quantities, and productivity metrics to support effective reporting and decision‑making.
  • Champion HSEQ excellence while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on site.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of field engineering experience supporting industrial construction projects.
  • Experience in mining or mineral processing projects, with gold processing experience considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian construction practices, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience working within EPCM project environments is considered an asset.
  • Proven problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities in fast‑paced field environments.
  • Ability to work rotational site schedules in remote locations and challenging weather conditions while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT:

$93,700 - $124,200

MB & ON:

$85,500 - $117,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC:

$84,700 - $112,400

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
