Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student to join the Project Delivery Group in Trail, BC, starting January 2027. Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited University.

• Co-op or work experience in mechanical engineering design is an asset.
• Proficiency with mechanical design calculations, 3D modeling tools and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work independently and with a team to complete mechanical and piping engineering design deliverables.
• Assist with mechanical engineering detailed design and deliverables.
• Learn industrial mechanical design and regional codes and Hatch quality procedures.
• Collaborate in a multi-discipline environment to deliver optimal client solutions.
• Assist senior engineers with studies, 3D modelling, 2D drafting, site information gathering, and design reviews.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Work independently and as part of a team to complete mechanical and piping engineering design deliverables for a variety of projects.
• Assist with mechanical engineering detailed design and deliverables.
• Become knowledgeable with industrial mechanical design and their practical applications, regional codes and standards (CSA, ASME, ASHRAE, ISO, etc.), various engineering design tools and applications, and Hatch’s quality procedures.
• Work collaboratively in a multi-discipline environment to deliver the best solution for our clients.
• Assist our senior engineers and designers with their responsibilities including but not limited to writing study reports, 3D modelling, 2D drafting, gathering onsite information, checking engineering deliverables, attending design reviews, quality reviews, and participating in site inspections and walkdowns when required.

You bring to the role:

• Must be enrolled in Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited University.
• Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
• Previous co-op or work experience in mechanical engineering design and execution will be considered an asset.
• Technical experience with mechanical design calculations, 3D modeling tools and software, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) will be preferred.

Compensation:

Range: $26.00 - $33.00

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
