The open position is for a Mechanical Engineer within the hydro generator engineering group. The team is responsible for the custom design of large hydro generator components with a primary focus on North American generator projects. This team is located at the Andritz Hydro Peterborough Generator Center, which includes a modern coil and bar manufacturing facility. This position includes technical responsibility for the mechanical design during all stages of a project life cycle (proposal, contract design, manufacturing and installation). The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of different topics including stress, heat transfer, ventilation, vibration and bearing analysis. The unique requirements of each hydro project make this a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a candidate with related skills and experience.
The Mechanical Engineer is expected to work closely with the local engineering and drafting teams, as well as externally located engineering specialists, project management, manufacturing and installation teams. Occasional travel to customer locations, project sites or other Andritz offices is required.
