Responsibilities
  • Perform conceptual and detailed mechanical engineering design activities for existing and new operations within uranium mining and milling facilities.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, and tender documents for equipment procurement, including expediting orders to support installation and construction schedules.
  • Ensure mechanical and piping systems comply with technical specifications, industry standards, internal standards, and applicable regulatory and QA/QC requirements.
  • Support large, multidisciplinary projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning as required.
  • Coordinate and respond to information requests during fabrication and construction, and participate in shop inspections and site visits to verify compliance with approved designs, applicable codes, and project schedules.
  • Provide mechanical engineering technical support to other departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor.

The seconded Engineer will primarily be based at the Saskatoon office, with occasional travel to site as required. Standard office hours are typically 40 hours per week, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including a half‑hour unpaid lunch break.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical system analysis, design, and construction.
  • Sound knowledge and application experience of the ASME B31.3, BPVC Section VIII and API 650 codes.
  • Strong understanding of process, chemical, and slurry conveyance piping, vessel and tank design.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical process equipment selection, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Experience in sizing and specifying process instrumentation will be considered an asset.
  • Experience working within or with other medium to large‑scale mining and processing organizations is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interact in a team environment, as well as work independently.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relations with other departments within the company.
