Job summary

Kent is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer with heat exchanger experience to join our engineering team. Roles include specification, design review, and procurement of heat exchangers for complex projects across locations in Alberta, with options in Sarnia, Ontario or Edmonton.

The ideal candidate will have a PE designation, 5–10 years in mechanical engineering and hands-on experience with heat exchanger technologies and related codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer designation (APEGA) required.
• Typically 5–10 years of mechanical engineering experience with heat exchangers.
• Experience with shell-and-tube, air-cooled or plate heat exchangers.
• Working knowledge of ASME, TEMA, API, CSA codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical engineering activities meeting scope, tech requirements, budgets and schedules.
• Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets, material requisitions and procurement recommendations.
• Support selection and evaluation of shell-and-tube, air-cooled and plate heat exchangers.
• Review vendor drawings, calculations, and inspection/test plans.
• Coordinate with process engineers on heat duties and operating conditions.
• Ensure design reviews address safety, constructability and maintainability.
• Assist with pressure equipment registration and technical documentation.
• Communicate progress and issues to lead engineer and project team.
