Job summary

Arup in Toronto is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support HVAC design on multidisciplinary projects across Ontario. You will collaborate with project managers and other disciplines to deliver integrated design documents.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering degree, 2+ years of HVAC experience, Revit MEP, and knowledge of building codes. We offer opportunities to grow, a supportive team, competitive salary, and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional HVAC design experience.
  • Revit MEP proficiency.
  • Familiar with OBC, NBC, IECC/ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, ASHRAE 55, LEED energy efficiency and indoor quality and NFPA 13, NFPA 14, CSA Z8000, FGI/ASHRAE 170, other CSA standards applicable for mechanical design.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based work.
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical engineering designs on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines and work with project managers to deliver coordinated design deliverables.
  • Support client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentation materials with sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Present technical material for review by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in local Professional Associations.

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Toronto office, supporting multidisciplinary projects within our property and science/laboratory facilities across Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer who’s eager to grow their technical skills, collaborate with experienced teams, and contribute to innovative project delivery.

The opportunity
  • Support mechanical engineering designs on multi-disciplinary projects. Design of mechanical systems including complete airside systems, heating and cooling hydronic plant systems, specialty exhaust systems, and steam systems.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines and work in conjunction with project managers to deliver comprehensive and coordinated design deliverables.
  • Support client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentation materials and incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Present technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in local Professional Associations.

Is this role right for you?
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.

Toronto Hiring Range

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $78,000 to $82,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
