Description

Brown & Beattie Ltd. is a Building Science Engineering firm that provides services to building owners and managers in evaluating, restoring, maintaining, and capital planning of buildings. As a mid‑level Mechanical Engineer, you will assess existing building mechanical systems and design replacement systems such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, make‑up air units, and others. Draft specifications, conduct construction review, prepare progress reports, and serve as client liaison. Supervise junior staff. This role can develop into a senior mechanical engineering position within 2–3 years with increased supervision and leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment of existing building mechanical systems.
  • Design of replacement systems (boilers, chillers, cooling towers, etc.).
  • Preparation of drafting specifications.
  • Construction review and progress reporting.
  • Client liaison and effective communication.
  • Supervision of junior staff.
  • Adaptation to evolving duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree required.
  • P. Eng. license required.
  • 5+ years licensed P. Eng. in Ontario.
  • Background in building science (BSS credential an asset but not required).
  • Experience drafting and construction review.
  • Strong time management, self‑driven, and ambition to build and lead a new mechanical engineering division.
  • Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
