Tooling Design Engineer

Description

Reporting to the Methods & Special Tooling Leader, the tooling design engineer is involved in the design of installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling, and lifting tools. Participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or being submitted.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Analyze the technical information (technical specifications, scope of work, division of work);
  • Responsible for the design of the site's special tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget considering the EHS aspect;
  • Plan the tooling design phase, follow-up and coordination with the project team;
  • Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure design is consistent with site installation methods;
  • Optimization of the tooling design or the machine to improve and reduce site installation time;
  • Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings;
  • Write reports and engineering documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals;
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of the site teams;
  • Validate the costing of procedures & tooling during the tendering phase with other members of the Construction & Commissioning team;
  • Responsible for the deliverables and budgets for their projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (open to a Civil or Structural Engineering if they have the experience)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in tooling and methods engineering within a heavy industrial environment such as mining, heavy machinery, industrial conveyor systems (airspace is NOT considered heavy)
  • Experience in a role or partly in a role where they had to be hands on with manufacturing (verse desk / modelling only)
  • Must have experience with a 3D modelling software (they use NX, but can learn the software if they have not used it before)
  • Aptitude to drive to get information from other groups (verse waiting for information to be sent their way) - Experience as well as aptitude is an asset.
  • SmartSheet and Excel Intermediate knowledge.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $64.00 / hr.
